The Great Migration of Kenya  (September 2014 - Final Dates to be Announced)

Ripped from the cover story of the November 2010 issue of National Geographic this safari will give us a unique opportunity to photograph one of the most spectacular events in nature, the great wildebeest and zebra migration of East Africa. Twice every year, driven by ancient instincts, tens of thousands of wildebeest migrate across the plains of East Africa. The herds cross vast plains and swollen rivers creating one of the most wondrous sights and best photographic opportunities in the natural world.

And where there are herds of wildebeest and zebras there are predators. Lions, leopards and cheetahs follow the herds.  Behind them come the scavengers such as hyenas, jackals and vultures. There are also elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos as well as numerous other animals and birds that make this area their home.

We begin our adventure in Nairobi and after a nights rest we drive to Amboseli National Park on the Serengeti Plain. Amboseli is one of East Africa's best locations for elephants and provides awesome views of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro.  We will spend 2 more days photographing the wildlife of Amboseli while staying at the beautiful Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.

From Amboseli we take a short flight to Masai Mara National Park. This northern extension of the Serengeti ecosystem is the sight of one of the world's most famous wildlife migrations. The migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra will surround your vehicle while cheetah, lions, elephants and numerous other game and predators watch closely.  We will stay in the marvelous Mara Serena Lodge and have 4 days of daily game drives to photograph the migrations as well as the option to fly in a hot air balloon for a birds eye view above this amazing display.

We then drive across the Mara River to the Mara Intrepids Lodge.   This luxury safari tent accommodation is situated in the worlds most diverse and spectacular wilderness area, above the bend of the Talek River in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Sitting at the confluence of the Mara's 4 game viewing areas, this camp embraces one of the most amazing locations in the Masai Mara ecosystem.

Finally we fly back to Nairobi and after a chance to rest, re-pack and dine we say goodbye to new friends and depart for the airport as we end one of life’s greatest photographic opportunities.
