Bears of Alaska   August 19-25 , 2012     Lake Clark National Park, Alaska

Imagine yourself on the banks of the Cook Inlet at the foot of Mt. Illiama in the midst of brown bears digging for clams or feeding on sedge grasses. This trip is one of those great opportunities to watch and photograph these great mammals in their natural environment, with only your small group and guide along. We are often close enough to the bears that they can be photographed with a short telephoto lens.

Not only bears, other creatures inhabit the tidal areas of the Alaska coast. We will visit a nearby island that has a rookery of Horned Puffins that can be photographed nesting and feeding.

We will stay in the beautiful Silver Salmon Creek Lodge right on the banks of the Cook Inlet. With a maximum of 10 participants there will be plenty of room to move around and get your best angle of the action. Bob and Scott will both be there each day to answer your questions and help out when necessary. In the evenings we will have photo classes and review your images. Keep in mind, that this is Alaska and while it is Summer, weather in Alaska is never guaranteed and quickly changeable.

Included: Transportation from Anchorage to the lodge, 6 nights at the lodge, all meals at the lodge, side trip to the puffins, guides, all instruction including classroom and in the field assistance. Hotel Gratuities not included

We realize this date is very far out but this trip is very popular and books quickly.  We already have half the spots committed to.  This is one of the best weeks of the year when the salmon are running and the bears are fishing them, the weather is still good and thousands of puffins are still in their nearby breeding grounds.
